2 weeks off over Xmas

Kept up progress, steep slopes, lots excercise. Need to keep active over the holidays.

Sunday 30 November 2008

Lodge Lane

Walked a very long way from my house to Lodge Lane (and further) this week on 3 consecutive days - and lived! First day feet killing me and had to return via 3 muddy fields. Days 2 and 3 walked a different route and felt better. Much fitter.

On Saturday I saw some youngish teens attempt parkour outside the library. Must have been total beginners. I had to restrain myself from giving my worldly wisdom.

stairs and hills

Wasn't even that tired after over 2-3 hrs steep stairs and hills each day this week, surprise as last week I was exhausted walking on the flat. New exc from the physio.

November

Very active, much walking, excercises.
Physio exc causing a lot of pain back of legs

Solved the mystery of red feet - the new sandals I've been using with bare feet and excercise.

Tuesday 28 October 2008

Physio today.

Hips out of normal position it seems. It was mentioned how flexible my legs were. So doing something right with all those fitness activities.

Loads of walking lately.

Monday 20 October 2008

Red hands and feet ????

Either it was the walking on fours excercise up the stairs or else???

They looked like beetroots.

Sunday 19 October 2008

new excercises

Planning to start the walking on all fours training. Indoors of course.

Walking a great deal, excercises at home for many hours daily.

Very motivated indeed.

Tuesday 14 October 2008

Noticeably fitter, ( comment by neighbour) yipee. Foot probs, not caused by the footwear as I had believed. Mystery solved at the doctors. Told to carry on wearing trainer sandals for the long walks.

Saturday 4 October 2008

Good news

Getting very fit. Very long walks and additional excercise.

Tuesday 16 September 2008

Overdone it

May have done too much walking, but at least I'm getting fitter.

Unfit

Need I say more.

24 sets of steps last time and still sprightly.

Only 6 this time and could hardly breathe!!!!!

And those passwords again! Not sure what it is about me and this blog.

Plus - stair climbing, always standing at the computer, lots of major household projects so non-stop activity, long walks carrying weights

Minus - stopped the military excercises.

Getting a lot of headaches due to looking up at the ceiling for hours (household tasks) = headaches. The pills have a lot of salt = weight gain

------------------------------------
Stairs. If I need to go up or downstairs I try to always add a few extra times. When I remember (like now) I do 12 at once. Must keep that up.

Sunday 8 June 2008

24 sets of metal stairs

And didn't feel that tired.

Result!

&*^% passwords

Couldn't get into the blog again for ages. No idea why it's getting so complicated and the passwords don't work.

Still, been doing a lot of excercising lately. Been reading about some new tv ads featuring parkour, hope to see one soon.

Was reading some interesting articles about competitive stair running. Not heard of that before.

no sitting

Rigged the computer so I have to stand. Web surfing is down to a minimum. Very healthy this week food and activity.

Trouser motivation

As I've been lagging behind the enthusiam lately, found the perfect thing - trousers I need to fit into early next week and they're a bit tight. There's no stopping me. Excercising, long walks, gardening, lots of activity all day.

Watched this video for extra motivation - reminded me of my old commuter days in London - never saw anything like this.

City Gents like you wouldn't believe in this - running and jumping across the City.

In the flow

After another log-in hiccup back again. Those excercises from the doctor plus the new eating regime has meant no snacking and lots of activity.

Tuesday 15 April 2008

New resolve

Military excercises from the doctor for my back which need to be done several times minimum daily plus started a new eating plan.

Thursday 10 April 2008

Hassle - who needs it!

I'm realising that motivation is coming fast through focusing on 'hassle'.

I HATE HASSLE

So I'm eliminating it.

Sure, there's some you can't help receiving- but if you are creating it yourself, then it needs to go.

Tuesday 8 April 2008

Back to normal

Lots of walking and excercises once more.

Watched the gymnastics on tv. Someone asked jokingly if I'd ever done anything like it and I mentioned my hobby. They had no idea what I was talking about. I find it's easier to keep quiet then starting long winded explanations and then get annoying questions.

Sunday 6 April 2008

Back playing up

Haven't been able to excercise properly as back is still causing problems. This morning I had to kneel down when I needed to go online.

No walks today but did relaxation excercises lying down.

Thursday 3 April 2008

Login nightmares

Finally back after some technical hitches.

Here's where I walked yesterday. No photos but a good description and clarification why I didn't see one single overweight person LOL

Looked round the Cathedral - I love being there. All that history.

Unexpected bonus at the Museum - a travelling art exhibition featuring Turner, Raphael and lots of other big names.

When I got back off the bus to the village, I was taken on a detour through back lanes I never knew existed, (I've always thought I was the footpath queen) so arrived home totally shattered.

Tuesday 1 April 2008

Still walking

Slowly getting back to extra excs, back playing up last few weeks.

Saturday 29 March 2008

Don't have a good excuse

Excercises have lapsed although walking a lot and being more active.

Monday 24 March 2008

Good and Bad

Good - gardening and exercise in the morning
Very long fast walk

Sunday 23 March 2008

Happy Easter

Started doing stair running etc in the morning. Short walk. Excs in the evening.

Need to get the metabolism revved up in the mornings from now on.

Saturday 22 March 2008

Out of routine

Because of a change of routine and I didn't have the downstairs to myself tonight, I completely forgot the excercises.

Very short walk. Hope I can get back into it next week.

Friday 21 March 2008

Sloth

A can't be bothered day. No walk.

Feel unmotivated and very lazy. Hope it will pass.

Wednesday 19 March 2008

On the lookout

Everywhere I'm going nowadays I'm looking out for things to jump over.

Very long walk today.

Tuesday 18 March 2008

Still motivated

Walks, yoga and sit ups is now my thing. I'm changing the excercises to stave off boredom.

Sunday 16 March 2008

Added more

Leg raises together and seperate have been added to the routine. Still going well. Looking forward to the yoga each day. Did less today to save overdoing it.

Wednesday 12 March 2008

Tuesday 11 March 2008

Time for a change

Wasn't as active as I planned today due to a severe headache.

Limited stair running.

Sit ups, yoga, long walk, stretching

Monday 10 March 2008

Usual Excercise

Normally I go on long daily walks, excercise to music - put on the tv and dance or do specific excercises on and off throughout the day.

For many years I used the powerstretcher - the elastic thingy with handles that is advertised as 'just 7 mins a day'. I've stopped that as I think that it aggravated my shoulders.

I'm also a fan of a routine of fast excercises mentioned in my second post (ezine articles). It's a combination of stair running, star jumps, running on the spot, weights and press ups. Each done for a very short time each and alternated.

I'm not really up to press ups on the ground so instead I do them against the stairs. I think that I must have got fitter recently as I can run up the stairs more times than before in the set time.

Onwards and upwards!

I've just re-read that article and realised that I've been missing out the sit-ups. Never mind.

Couch Potato no More

My weekly weigh-in reminded me that I'm spending too much time sitting down. For some years now my normal routines have been changing with the outcome of too much inactivity.

Although I didn't put on any weight, I've been the same for over a month even with all the excercise that I do.

I mentioned this to the doctor and they're giving me tests for thyroid. But I reckon it's down to the couch!

So it's time to change my routine and get active.

This is what I sometimes do (when I remember). You need access to stairs.
I am captivated by freerunning and Parkour.

So, I'm not in my first flush of youth (by any stretch of the imagination) a bit overweight, unfit. Female! So what?

Plus side -

1. I've been excercising/walking for years
2. The sheer energy I see in the videos is a huge motivator
3. I don't give up

Minus -

1. Marial arts training - Tang Soo Doo/ballet/tai chi caused severe knee problems
2. A recent run reminded me of the reasons I gave up the above hobbies.

Ok, so I can walk fast instead. No need to give up at the first hurdle.
